League recap: Godinez climbs in state rankings with win

Godinez moved up to 833 from 902 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Orange Coast. Godinez was able to make the jump by beating Century 43-14.

Estancia and Sonora played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Estancia eventually emerging with a 24-18 victory.

Zachary Huizar provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Aron Kaye's team defeated the Centurions. He completed five passes for 138 yards and one touchdown and also ran for four yards. Huizar's favorite target this week was Brian Hernandez, who caught four passes for 119 yards.

EDUARDO BERNAL put up the best numbers through the air as Saddleback bested La Quinta. He finished with one completions for six yards and six touchdowns. BERNAL's favorite target this week was ISIAH FRANKS, who caught one pass for six yards.

Nathan Lancaster was the most productive running back in the league this week. In seven carries, he ran for 111 yards as Laguna Beach bested Century. Drake Martinez also contributed to the rushing game with 81 yards on the ground.

6-foot-3 quarterback Colin Kearon of Calvary Chapel is the league leader in passing yards this season with 543. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, the Breakers' Martinez has rushed for 503 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Markiece Traylor. The Costa Mesa star has 17 catches for 280 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Roadrunners take on Laguna Beach. Saddleback is currently in fourth, while Michael Churchill's team is in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Costa Mesa takes on the Eagles. The Mustangs have allowed 80 points this season, while Estancia has given up 83.

There should be lots of points scored when Rob Thompson's team and the Breakers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Roadrunners comes in having scored 123 this season, while Laguna Beach has scored 262. Saddleback scored 43 points last week as it topped the Aztecs.

The Breakers took down Pioneer 59-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lancaster caught one passes for 14 yards in the win.
