Baseball Preview: Sage Creek Bobcats vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils
For the second straight game, Sage Creek will face off against Mt. Carmel. The Bobcats will welcome the Sundevils at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sage Creek 3.5, Mt. Carmel 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Sage Creek fell victim to Mt. Carmel and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Sundevils. The shutout was out of character for the Bobcats seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.
For Mt. Carmel's part, Kelle Leuck made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Leuck a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nate Godbold was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Atticus Enriquez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Mt. Carmel's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Sage Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
