Basketball Recap: Angelia Dunn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cleveland over Willow Spring

After flying high against Corinth Holders last Friday, Cleveland came back down to earth. The Cleveland Rams fell just short of the Willow Spring Storm by a score of 49-46 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Storm: they've now lost seven in a row.

Cleveland's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angelia Dunn, who posted 17 points. The match was Dunn's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Cannon, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 14 points.

Leading Willow Spring to victory were Amanda Mitchell and Taylor Gray. Mitchell dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Gray dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Mitchell a new career-high in points. Layla Mitchell was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Cleveland's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Willow Spring, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.

Cleveland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-29 win against Clayton on the 5th. As for Willow Spring, they have also already played their next game, a 52-48 loss against Corinth Holders on the 7th.
