Softball Game Preview: Langley Saxons vs. James Madison Warhawks

Langley is 1-9 against James Madison since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Langley will be playing at home against James Madison at 6:30 p.m. Langley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so James Madison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Langley's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Westfield hitters got past them. Langley came up short against Westfield on Thursday, falling 10-4. The loss was the Saxons' first of the season.

Juliet Sayers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Hohenthaner, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Sayers wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Langley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, James Madison put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let South County get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Fans of the Warhawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

James Madison's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Langley, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Langley beat James Madison 4-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Does Langley have another victory up their sleeve, or will James Madison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
