Basketball Recap: Episcopal Takes a Loss

Episcopal's tournament run continued when they took on Stony Point on Saturday. The Episcopal Knights lost 78-56 to the Stony Point Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Tigers are ranked fifth).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stony Point to victory, but perhaps none more so than Uzziah Buntyn, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points and six steals. Buntyn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Short, who went 6 for 10from beyond the arc en route to 20 points.

Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Stony Point, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Episcopal will welcome St. Francis Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Francis Episcopal knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Episcopal likes a good challenge. As for Stony Point, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-48 victory against Lake Highlands on the 7th.
