Baseball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Find Success

Zion Christian Academy won the last time they faced Santa Fe and things went their way on Thursday too. Zion Christian Academy came out on top against Santa Fe by a score of 9-4.

Thatcher Looney made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Looney was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Zion Christian Academy: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 2-5 otherwise.

Looney wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Targgart, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Carson Boylan was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Zion Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Santa Fe, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Zion Christian Academy will be playing at home against Christian Community at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Christian Community has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Zion Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Santa Fe, they will head out to face off against Houston County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Houston County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Santa Fe surely won't give up without a fight.
