Basketball Recap: Community Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from River Bryan and Aiden Sipes

It was a good run, but Community Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Grace Christian Academy Colts by a score of 50-48. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colts apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Aiden Sipes and River Bryan certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sipes almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds, while Bryan went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points and eight boards. Sipes' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Parker Dehls was another key player, putting up four points and five assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grace Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kasyn Gaston, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points along with eight boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Suhr, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 16 points.

Community Christian's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for Grace Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Community Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-50 defeat against St. Paul's Prep on the 4th. As for Grace Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-45 loss against Cristo Rey Fort Worth on the 24th.
