Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Porter Johnson and Regan Wilson Lead Fruitport to Victory

Fruitport waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Hopkins Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

Fruitport was led to victory by Regan Wilson and Porter Johnson. Wilson had six digs and six aces, while Johnson had 23 digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Johnson a new career-high. Maycee Hall also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Fruitport was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Fruitport's victory bumped their record up to 26-11-1. As for Hopkins, they moved to 20-15-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-match winning streak.

Fruitport and Hopkins should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Trojans (ranked 105th) will meet Grant (ranked 238th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hopkins will face off against Tri-Unity Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (228 vs. 505).
