Preview: Northfield Norsemen vs. Southwood Knights
The Northfield Norsemen will head out on the road to face off against the Southwood Knights at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Northfield will be strutting in after a victory while Southwood will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Northfield blew past Taylor, posting a 66-29 win at home.
Northfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Eden Hoover out in front who scored 10 points along with 5 steals. Callie Hoffman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Southwood's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Mississinewa 50-44.
Despite the loss, Southwood had strong showings from Lola Winer, who scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds, and Emmerson Chellis, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds.
The losses dropped Northfield to 2-8 and Taylor to 1-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Northfield have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Southwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.2 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Northfield might still be hurting after the 59-39 loss they got from Southwood in their previous matchup back in February. Thankfully for Northfield, Aleia Sweet (who scored 26 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
