Volleyball Recap: East Helena Gets the Win

East Helena hadn't done well against Lockwood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vigilantes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the LIONS. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

East Helena had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-13.

Emma Taylor paced East Helena's offense, picking up 16 kills. Taylor got some help from Caydee Cookson and her 45 assists. Rori Schoenfeld controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Despite the loss, Lockwood still got an impressive performance from Tessa Ketterling, who had 22 digs and three assists. Ketterling has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last five times she's played.

With the victory, East Helena broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for Lockwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.

Coincidentally, East Helena and Lockwood will both be playing Hardin the next time they take the court. The Vigilantes will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the LIONS will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
