Basketball Recap: Canutillo Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Canutillo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against the Socorro Bulldogs by a score of 57-45 on Tuesday. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 47-26 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Canutillo can attribute much of their success to Nickie Davila, who went 7-for-13 en route to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Davila a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liyara Wilkes, who posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.

Socorro lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Andrea Caballero, who put up 20 points and six boards. Cisryann Salas was another key player, putting up nine points.

Canutillo pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Socorro, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Canutillo is taking a road trip to square off against Coronado at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Socorro, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-24 defeat against Harlandale on the 13th.
