League recap: Martin's hitting boosts Arvada West

5A Jeffco league recap: 4/3/13

Allen Martin was the hottest hitter in 5A Jeffco this week, racking up a .846 average with five RBIs. Arvada West went 1-2.

The league's top pitcher this week was Lakewood's Riley Collins. He struck out 12 batters this week.

Dakota Ridge's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 15 hits and four walks, both of which led the league.

Bear Creek stole 18 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 22 steals on the year.

15 batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Allen Martin, who collected 11 hits in 13 at bats for a .846 average.

The Wildcats' Martin finished his week with 11 hits, tops in the league. His 15 hits for the year are second in the league, and he boasts a .625 batting average.



Jack Kotarba drove in four runners on Tuesday in the Eagles' 10-2 victory over Valley Vista. He went 2-for-3 and scored one run.

The Bears' Luke Davis threw seven shutout innings in a 4-0 win over Pomona on Wednesday. He struck out 12, allowing one hit.
