Preview: Yavneh Academy Bulldogs vs. Lakehill Prep Warriors
Yavneh Academy is 8-2 against Lakehill Prep since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Yavneh Academy Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Lakehill Prep Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Yavneh Academy is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lakehill Prep in Texas (Yavneh Academy is ranked 627th, while Lakehill Prep is ranked 1356th).
Last Thursday, Yavneh Academy lost to Bishop Gorman on the road by a decisive 64-49 margin.
Despite their loss, Yavneh Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Daniela Hargrove, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hargrove has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Andrea Achar, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Even though they lost, Yavneh Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lakehill Prep's nine-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end last Thursday. They snuck past Highlands with a 45-40 win. That five points margin sets a new team best for Lakehill Prep this season.
Yavneh Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Lakehill Prep, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3.
Everything went Yavneh Academy's way against Lakehill Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Yavneh Academy made off with a 49-27 win. Will Yavneh Academy repeat their success, or does Lakehill Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
