Volleyball Game Preview: Dixon Dukes & Duchesses vs. Lutheran Crusaders

Dixon hasn't had much luck against Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dukes & Duchesses will head out to face off against the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. Dixon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Thursday, Dixon earned a 2-0 win over Stillman Valley.

Dixon easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-13.

Dixon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Solis Thompson, who had four digs, three aces, and two blocks. That's the most digs Thompson has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Yui Santos, who had ten digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Dixon was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Lutheran posted their closest victory since September 6th on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Beloit, sneaking past 2-1.

Dixon's record now sits at 11-2. As for Lutheran, their record is now 2-13.

Dixon was able to grind out a solid win over Lutheran in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dukes & Duchesses since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
