Softball Recap: Grand Blanc Picks Up 17th Straight Win on the Road

Grand Blanc put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Midland Chemics. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 on Thursday.

Kayla Blumenschein spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alaina Trotter and Ella Stevenson did most of the damage at the plate: Trotter went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI, while Stevenson went 3-for-4 with two RBI. That RBI marked the first that Trotter has brought in this season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Grand Blanc kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Grand Blanc pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Midland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grand Blanc will head out to take on Davison at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Midland, they will venture away from home to square off against Lapeer East at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
