Baseball Game Preview: Foothill Falcons vs. Livermore Cowboys

For the second straight game, Foothill will face off against Livermore. The Falcons will host the Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Foothill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Foothill will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Livermore on Wednesday. The Falcons blew past the Cowboys 22-1. Considering the Falcons have won 11 matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Fowler was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Austin Rost was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Tanner Tarpley was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Foothill is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Livermore, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Foothill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Livermore struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts.
