Southern Connecticut Division I - East recap October 8, 2013

West Haven took down Guilford 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Cheshire and Sheehan played the closest game in Southern Connecticut Division I - East this week, with Cheshire eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory.

Stevie Swinson was a force in the backfield as Wilbur Cross beat East Haven.

Swinson was a passing and rushing force as the Governors beat the Yellowjackets. Swinson's key target this week was Elijah Long, who caught 4 passes for 68 yards.

Drew Arciuolo was the best wideout in the league this week as Notre Dame fell to Ridgefield. Arciuolo tallied 7 receptions for 89 yards. Joseph Palmieri helped Notre Dame's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 32 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Nick van Dell of Hand is the league leader in passing yards this season with 588. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Long. The Wilbur Cross star has 21 catches for 263 yards.

As it stands, the Rams are in fourth, while the Tigers are in second.

The league will see a high scoring game when the Blue Devils and the Green Knights face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, West Haven comes in having scored 124 this season, while Notre Dame has scored 111. Ed McCarthy's team scored 42 points last week as it topped the Indians.

Wilbur Cross made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,060 from 7,452. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 24-0 victory over East Haven last week.
