Baseball Recap: Lindblom Comes Up Short

Lindblom had lost six straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it seven. They came up short against the Simeon Wolverines, falling 13-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lindblom saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andres Aguirre, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Aguirre is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Alexis Diaz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Simeon, their record now sits at 6-7-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Simeon's side, Antonio Porterfield looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Porterfield a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Aiden Pondexter was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. He has become a key player for Simeon: the team is 2-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ben Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lindblom will head out to take on Chicago Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Simeon, they will venture away from home to challenge Whitney Young at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Dolphins will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
