Soccer Game Preview: Nation Ford vs. Clover

The Nation Ford Falcons will head out to challenge the Clover Blue Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nation Ford's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Clover's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Nation Ford is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Catawba Ridge, who was ranked fifth at the time (Nation Ford was ranked 13th). While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Copperheads who were credited with the victory last Thursday. Catawba Ridge got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Nation Ford's three. Nation Ford's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Nation Ford will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Clover extended their winning streak to four last Thursday. The Blue Eagles came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Indian Land.

Samuel Sykes was the driving force of Clover's attack as he scored both of Clover's goals, bringing his season total up to 12 goals.

Clover pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Nation Ford, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.

Nation Ford beat Clover by a goal in their previous meeting back in March, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
