Softball Recap: Montclair Takes a Loss

Montclair came up into this matchup off a tough eight-run defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Sierra Vista Dons by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cavaliers have suffered since February 12, 2024.

Makayla Sosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-low in earned runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Montclair and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Sierra Vista, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montclair will host Pomona at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sierra Vista, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Arroyo at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Arroyo knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Sierra Vista likes a good challenge.
