Montgomery Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 3-0. They put the hurt on the Montgomery Academy Eagles with a sharp 17-9 win. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 14-11 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2025.
Aidan Fleet was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Montgomery Catholic got a massive performance out of Christian Alvarez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Ethan Levanda was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
As for Montgomery Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Like Montgomery Catholic, Montgomery Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Finley Haigler. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Haigler was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Montgomery Academy got a massive performance out of William Marks, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Marks is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Hudson Bradshaw, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Coming up, Montgomery Catholic will head out on the road to face off against St. Michael Catholic at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montgomery Academy, they will be playing at home against Luverne at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
