The Ponchatoula Green Wave will face off against the Mobile Christian Leopards at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Ponchatoula had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Covington on Thursday. Ponchatoula blew past Covington 17-6. The win continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won nine in a row.

Abby Dagro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Ponchatoula let Faye Boihem and Rae'El Wheat run wild. Boihem scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Wheat scored three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits Wheat has posted over her last 12 contests. Another player making a difference was Lillian Virga, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.
Ponchatoula always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .551. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Mobile Christian posted their closest victory since February 25th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bryant, sneaking past 10-9.
Riley Dunnam was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Hailey Padgett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Mobile Christian now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Ponchatoula, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ponchatoula has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like Mobile Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
