Football Preview: Carrollton Trojans vs. Parker Thundering Herd
Carrollton has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Parker Thundering Herd at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Carrollton's upcoming match probably won't be as stressful as their last, when they took on another nationally ranked opponent: Gainesville, who was ranked 65th at the time (Carrollton was ranked seventh). The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Mosley, who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Parker put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Mortimer Jordan onto the board and left with a 46-0 win. That looming 46-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Thundering Herd yet this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Parker's defense and their five sacks. Vodney Cleveland was especially locked on to Mortimer Jordan's QB and sacked him twice. Cleveland also set a new season high mark in total tackles with four.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Parker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 301 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Carrollton pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Parker, their record is now 4-0.
