Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Clinton Prairie's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Clinton Prairie proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the North Montgomery Chargin' Chargers. The Gophers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Chargin' Chargers, too.

Jackson Price was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Price was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Price wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kye Jacobs, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Jacobs a new career-high. Another was Elijah Edwards, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Clinton Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Montgomery, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Clinton Prairie and North Montgomery should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Gophers (ranked 116th) will meet Lebanon (ranked 279th) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, North Montgomery will face off against Crawfordsville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (104 vs. 232).
