Recap: Monroe vs. Freedom

Freedom have relied on a stalwart defense averaging 12.73 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 20-43 walloping at Monroe's hands. That makes it the first time this season Freedom have let down their home crowd.

There were plenty of thrills en route to that final score. Freedom's senior C.J. Hayden hauled in a 53-yard TD pass in the first quarter. Monroe also got in on the action, as freshman Shaleak Knotts took a kickoff straight to the end zone for a 62-yard TD in the first quarter.

Freedom do not have any more games currently scheduled. Monroe will take on Charlotte Catholic in the second round of the playoffs at 7:30 PM next week. Charlotte Catholic are cruising in on a 11-game winning streak.
