Volleyball Recap: Phillipsburg Takes a Loss

Phillipsburg lost against Smith Center back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redmen. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Phillipsburg had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18.

Smith Center can attribute much of their success to Lillie Heiland, who had 19 digs and one assist. Heiland is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Phillipsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 13-20. As for Smith Center, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phillipsburg will face off against Ellsworth on Monday. As for Smith Center, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hoxie on Monday.
