Baseball Game Preview: Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks vs. Blountstown Tigers

The Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks will face off against the Blountstown Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Port St. Joe is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Liberty County as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The Tiger Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Baylor Partie made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Port St. Joe is undefeated when Partie posts two or more runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corban Butts, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Port St. Joe's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Eli Harris, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Blountstown beat Franklin County 7-4 on Tuesday.

Blountstown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Port St. Joe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.
