Football Game Preview: Durant Wildcats vs. Cardinal Comets

The Durant Wildcats will face off against the Cardinal Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Durant hasn't scored more than six points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Durant might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 50-6 to Regina, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Regals are ranked 39th).

Meanwhile, Cardinal played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, falling 53-12. The Comets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

Cardinal's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Durant, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Durant was able to grind out a solid victory over Cardinal when the teams last played back in October of 2019, winning 33-21. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
