Soccer Game Preview: Howell North vs. Fort Zumwalt West

Howell North hasn't had much luck against Fort Zumwalt West recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Jaguars at 5:45 p.m. Fort Zumwalt West took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Howell North, who comes in off a win.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Howell North and Troy-Buchanan meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Trojans 2-1.

Meanwhile, Fort Zumwalt West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Howell Central. While losing is never fun, Fort Zumwalt West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri soccer rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Howell Central are ranked ninth).

The victory got Howell North back to even at 3-3. As for Fort Zumwalt West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Howell North might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Fort Zumwalt West in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
