Basketball Recap: Avery Bigelow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Morehead over T.W. Andrews

Morehead was the 75-52 winner over T.W. Andrews when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Morehead Panthers lost to the T.W. Andrews Red Raiders on the road by a 69-53 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 169th).

Morehead lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Avery Bigelow, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. The matchup was Bigelow's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Morehead dropped their record down to 5-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for T.W. Andrews, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Morehead will venture away from home to face off against Reidsville at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Reidsville will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Morehead surely won't give up without a fight. As for T.W. Andrews, they will welcome High Point Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
