Softball Recap: Cuyahoga Heights Has No Trouble Against Mckinley

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Cuyahoga Heights walked away with it. Everything went their way against the McKinley Trojans on Monday as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Wolves, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Skylar Sane tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Giada Presot, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aly Williams, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Cuyahoga Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McKinley only posted an OBP of .400.

Cuyahoga Heights has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for McKinley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Cuyahoga Heights is taking a road trip to square off against Maplewood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. McKinley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
