Martin County is a perfect 5-0 against Phelps since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cardinals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Martin County faced off against Paintsville on Wednesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Tigers, falling 18-3. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Martin County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Crayson Lafferty, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Damian Cheek, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Phelps was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 14-4 to Betsy Layne. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Hornets, who fell 4-2 when the teams last met back in March of 2023.

Martin County's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Phelps, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Martin County took their win against Phelps when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 19-3 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
