Baseball Game Preview: Boyd County Lions vs. East Carter Raiders

The Boyd County Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the East Carter Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. East Carter took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Boyd County, who comes in off a win.

Boyd County came out on top against Carroll on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Lions blew past the Patriots 14-1. Considering the Lions have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, East Carter entered their game against Madison Southern on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Raiders fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly two runs.

Boyd County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for East Carter, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Boyd County came out on top in a nail-biter against East Carter in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
