Preview: Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Blue Devils vs. St. Anthony's Friars
Having just played yesterday, the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Blue Devils will jump right back in to play the St. Anthony's Friars at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 62-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Georgetown Prep. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Springside Chestnut Hill Academy has scored all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, St. Anthony's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 58-48 to John Carroll. While losing is never fun, St. Anthony's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 143rd in New York, while John Carroll is ranked 27th in Maryland).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Chris Welling, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of James Taylor jr., who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for St. Anthony's, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
