Baseball Recap: Leigh Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Leigh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Pioneer Mustangs 3-2. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Leigh's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Michael Mogannam, who went 2-for-4 with one run. Another was Aiden Phillips, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Leigh's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Pioneer, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mustangs beat Leigh by a score of 4-1 on Friday.
