Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Jackson's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jackson can now relate to. They came up short against the Creekside Seminoles on Thursday, falling 57-37. The match marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jackson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aaliyah Weaver, who went 8-for-20 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds, and Journey Conley, who posted eight points. Weaver is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Creekside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was C'India Dennis, who shot 67% from the field on her way to 22 points along with six boards and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dennis has scored at least a third of Creekside's points. Jacy Mitchell was another key player, going 6-for-7 to rack up 14 points and three steals.

With the loss, Jackson broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-8. As for Creekside, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 32-0.
