Softball Game Preview: Clear Creek Wildcats vs. Dickinson Gators

The Clear Creek Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Dickinson Gators at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Clear Creek is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Clear Creek took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against Clear Springs, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Clear Creek skirted past Clear Springs 5-4. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, Dickinson came up short against Deer Park on Tuesday and fell 7-2. The Gators haven't had much luck with the Deer recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Bailey Barber put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Barber was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Barber wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sammie Paukert, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Clear Creek's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dickinson, their loss dropped their record down to 6-17.

Clear Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Dickinson when the teams last played on March 4th, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clear Creek since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
