Softball Recap: Godley Wins Going Away Against Saginaw

Godley got themselves on the board against Saginaw on Tuesday, but Saginaw never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 17-0 margin over the Saginaw Rough Riders. Considering the Wildcats have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Samantha Andersen made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Alyssa Sullivan was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Karlee Clark was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Godley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saginaw only posted an OBP of .353.

The win made it two in a row for Godley and bumps their season record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Saginaw and 2-6 Saginaw. As for Saginaw, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Godley will take on Salado in a tournament on Thursday. As for Saginaw, they will welcome Irving at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
