Fort Payne came tearing into Saturday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Plainview Bears. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 last Thursday.

Fort Payne got a great performance from Preston Ledford as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Griffin Winn was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Fort Payne's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Plainview, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. As for Plainview, they will head out to take on Sylvania at 11:00 a.m. on March 8th.
