Basketball Recap: Oberlin Comes Up Short

Oberlin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Columbia Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-46 back in January.

Despite the loss, Oberlin still got an impressive performance from Josiah Bowen-Pride, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Bowen-Pride is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Jakshawn Windham, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Oberlin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Oberlin's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Columbia, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-10.

Oberlin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-40 defeat against Independence on the 15th. Columbia has also already played their next contest (against Clearview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
