Basketball Recap: Walker Valley Beats Father Ryan for Their Seventh Straight Win

Walker Valley strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 73-67 W against the Father Ryan Irish. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mustangs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Irish are ranked 44th).

Father Ryan lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josh Williams, who went 7-for-10 on his way to 24 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games he's played. Michael Fisch was another key player, shooting 53% from the field to rack up 19 points.

Walker Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Father Ryan, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Looking ahead, Walker Valley will head out on the road to face off against Tellico Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' defense better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 68.5 points per game this season. Father Ryan will take on White House-Heritage in a holiday battle at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
