Softball Game Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. Biggs Wolverines

The Maxwell Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Biggs Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maxwell will be strutting in after a victory while Biggs will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Maxwell made easy work of Williams and carried off a 21-6 win. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly 15 runs.

The team relied heavily on Jada Lazarus, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lizzy Sanapaw, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.

Meanwhile, Biggs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Quincy, falling 10-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wolverines, who until this matchup were averaging 3.2 runs allowed.

Arden Vines made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Maxwell and bumps their season record up to 8-10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Biggs, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.

Maxwell might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from Biggs when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
