Softball Game Preview: Mynderse Academy Blue Devils vs. Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders

Mynderse Academy is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Palmyra-Macedon is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Blue Devils will host the Red Raiders at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Mynderse Academy has given up an average of 7.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Wednesday, Mynderse Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Waterloo. They walked away with a 17-12 victory over the Tigers.

Hannah O'Brien was a standout: she got on base in three of her six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Haley Young, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Palmyra-Macedon fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Aquinas Institute on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Little Irish by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Red Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Palmyra-Macedon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaedy Andross, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Mynderse Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6. As for Palmyra-Macedon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mynderse Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Palmyra-Macedon struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
