Basketball Preview: Wolfe City Wolves vs. Tom Bean Tomcats
Wolfe City is 8-2 against the Tomcats since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wolfe City Wolves will be playing at home against the Tom Bean Tomcats at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully Wolfe City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
Last Friday, Wolfe City was beaten by the Rebels 57-26. While losing is never fun, Wolfe City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1322nd, while the Rebels are ranked 585th).
Cavan Armstrong put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tom Bean put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Trenton 47-27. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Tom Bean just coasted through the last quarter.
Wolfe City has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-21 record this season. As for Tom Bean, they pushed their record up to 22-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Wolfe City came up short against the Tomcats in their previous meeting back in January, falling 43-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Tom Bean's Branson Ashlock, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
