Baseball Recap: Auburn Gets the Win

Auburn had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Northbridge on Wednesday. The Rockets never let the Rams get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. With that win, the Rockets brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Not much got past Liam Doyle, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Northbridge off the board. Doyle has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Ortiz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Rex Vartabedian, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Auburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Auburn's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Northbridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Auburn will venture away from home to challenge North Middlesex Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northbridge, they will take on Sutton/Douglas at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
