Recap: West Morgan Rebels vs. Brewer Patriots
The West Morgan Rebels were the 56-49 winner over the Brewer Patriots when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. West Morgan fell just short of Brewer by a score of 56-53. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as West Morgan came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Brewer is ranked 228th).
Brewer's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Dunn, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dunn has scored at least 25% of Brewer's points. Cam Ballinger was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
West Morgan has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Brewer, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-8.
West Morgan and Cascade will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Brewer will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ardmore at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
