Basketball Game Preview: Rice Lake Warriors vs. River Falls Wildcats

The Rice Lake Warriors will head out on the road to take on the River Falls Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Rice Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.

Rice Lake is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Eau Claire Memorial just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to the Old Abes at home by a 67-51 margin.

Rice Lake's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Adaline Sheplee, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards, and Addison Schmidt, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The contest was Schmidt's eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Meanwhile, River Falls came up short against Hudson on Friday, falling 53-33. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Raiders are ranked 72nd).

River Falls dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Rice Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.

Rice Lake came up short against River Falls when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 54-50. Can Rice Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
