Baseball Recap: Greenback Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Greenback's victory against Midway wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cherokees narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Green Wave 7-5. The victory was nothing new for the Cherokees as they're now sitting on three straight.

Kolden Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JJ Caudill, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Greenback always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midway only posted an OBP of .406.

Greenback's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Midway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Greenback is taking a road trip to face off against Polk County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Midway, they will welcome Sale Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
