Baseball Game Recap: Park View Patriots vs. Loudoun County Captains

Park View extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 22 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-0 to the Loudoun County Captains, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Captains this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Tuesday.

As for Loudoun County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly 13 runs.

For Loudoun County's part, Ben Griffin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Griffin is becoming a predictor of Loudoun County's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Griffin was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dhillon Ruparella was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Jacob Martin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Park View will host Unity Reed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Loudoun County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
