Basketball Recap: Springfield Beats Western Reserve for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Springfield won the last time they faced Western Reserve and things went their way on Saturday too. The Springfield Tigers walked away with a 56-45 victory over the Western Reserve Blue Devils. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers who have now won five games in a row.

Leading Springfield to victory were Mariana Tuscano and Jameka Brungard. Tuscano went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points and four steals, while Brungard dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Brungard's afternoon made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Karigan Mullen, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Springfield's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Western Reserve, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.

Springfield has already played their next contest, a 46-41 win against Lowellville on the 28th. As for Western Reserve, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-16 victory against Memorial on the 27th.
